My name is John Cox and I am a student at Purdue University studying aeronautical engineering technology (AET) and unmanned aerial systems (UAS). I created this blog as part of one of my classes studying geospatial information systems used in UAS but I hope to expand upon this in the future.
Some things about me; Aviation has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember be it manned aircraft or otherwise I always wanted to learn as much as I could about anything that flew. When I enrolled here I chose to major in AET a with a minor in UAS because I saw UAS the way forward in aviation and the rapid advancements in UAS technology drew my interests.
As far as future careers go I would like to work in an environment where I can apply what I learned here to bridge the gap between manned and unmanned aviation by integrating what I am learning about UAS operations and aviation technology.
My first assignment in this class was to critique some for the previous students blogs from this class.
Luke Hull, AT319 Spring 2019: Luke's blog was laid out well and I liked how he went pretty in depth with his writing. it was interesting to see that he had posted some of the things he was doing in his UAS capstone in this blog which was a little confusing at first but the blog archive helped me figure out what he was posting about. Overall his blog is very good, the only think I think I would change is that in his figures and tables page his pictures don't have much context. I would add what the pictures were for and where they came from.
Todd Horn, AT409 Fall2018: I thought Todd's blog was organized very well, I appreciated how the whole of his posts were able to be viewed without expanding them. I know that may be a turn off for some people, but I think it made the posts more connected. The only really issue I saw in Todd's blog were some of the pictures he had would clip through the text or the side bar menu of the blog.
Connor Yoder, AT319 Spring 2019: Connor's blog contained very detailed information and I appreciated that his posts were all expanded and flowed together. However most of his pictures were small and a bit difficult to make out what was going on, additionally his maps, tables , and figures tab was empty.
Hans Gustafsson, AT319 Spring 2019: Hans's blog was definitely one of the more visually appealing blogs I looked at. All of his information was very well organized and flowed logically, his pictures were clear and well explained and I appreciate how he included tabs or ESRI tutorials and software experience. When considering using this blog for a resume I thing Han's produced one of the best examples of this I saw.
Brian Meyer, AT319 Spring 2019: Brian's blog Did some things that I really liked, such as listing what the topics of the blogs were in the blog archives. This made finding specifc information much easier. I don't know of this was a requirement of the class at the time but given that all of the other blogs from the spring 2019 AT319 class had a figures tab I was suprosed ot see that Brian's did not.
